I can't say I'm happy that deepworld is going. When I first played this game back in 2012, I played for 4 hours straight. The ecstasy of stealing someone's candles out of a 4x4 floating shack was incredible.
The great friends I made, the things I've been through, all revolved around the figure in the middle of the screen, the protagonist of my story. The whole time I was trying to create an environment my protagonist could live happily, satisfied with virtual achievments, and completing the dream of a happy ending.
Upon hearing about the end of deepworld, I thought about giving my character the feeling of "beating the game." Ending peacefully, giving it a happy ending. So I took the protagonist to the one place he could call home. His first ever house, built in a private world, with four other long gone, and very missed friends.
I surrounded and decorated his house with a few of his treasured items, and made it feel like home.
I am at peace with the game ending, as I know my seven year old protagonist remains in his home, after the game ends, laying under a history rich of adventure and many friends made. It might sound odd and childish, but I like to think that after the game ends, my protagonist will live in his own control, in the one place he can truly call home.
It's been an unforgettable time, thank you for all of it.
