Exploders must be stopped!

I think it’s time, players have been and still are using exploders to make lag machines and lag out people from the game which is annoying. I was mining in a world when some jerk decided to make a lag machine.
There’s have been many complains from the past,
It’s time to get rid of them or make them only placeable by world owners only!

Who agrees?

Here’s a clip of what I mean:

It’s a lag machine. Bunch of explorers and a touch plate,If you die by the exploders ,all of the players lag out.
This isn’t the first time that ever happened to me,
And in the chat they were talking about lag machines and that crap.

Do the thing where they can only be placed in worlds of over 75% exploration :)

That won’t really help,Lag machines aren’t only created on unexplored worlds, but popular worlds that are over 75%
Cake land,Pie palace and many popular worlds had issues with exploders aka lag machines
Making it placed by world owners is fair,Just like pandora boxers and any other “Can only he placed by world owner”

    Or
Banned them,What are they used for anyway,
Exploders have more cons then pros tbh

Why not just make exploders not lag people out?

Not quite sure that’s possible. The only way to “not lag people out” is to not have explorers in the first place. Think about it like a virus, a virus spreads through your computer and overloads your system by multiplying itself causing your computer to slow down or even shut down your computer. Multiple exploders cause a huge slowdown because the game has to process the activation of all of them together, and doing it repeatedly can force the game to shut down due to the inability to handle the pressure caused by the exploders. I would just recommend if this starts happening in a random world that you leave immediately before being trapped in a cycle of crashing.

Another option: Limit the number of exploders placeable, except for the world owner

Yes, but why do exploders cause more lag then other devices?
I mean I have a casino near spawn in my world with over 80 trapdoors and touchplates and it is fine.
And the ending of my quest has 8 exploders, and they seem to cause lag...

Maybe the exploder coding needs a little work is what I am saying.
I am no expert on game coding though, so I am just wondering as a bystander :)

One thing to note is that an exploder takes up more space then a regular trapdoor. Activating a trapdoor or mechanical door differs from activating an exploder because it happens almost instantly within 1 frame while the exploder has a bit of an animation that takes up more space while being activated. I believe there’s also a bit of smoke that comes out of steam pipes while being used, it’s a bit minor but could also contribute to lagging.

Mech trapdoors and doors basically just change what they look like and if you can go through them when activated, whereas with exploders, here, picture this. You’re painting a wall, and want to add on 50 layers. You begin to do it all at once. The paint sags, then sploshes onto the floor. With exploders, an explosion is created. The creation of a whole new thing that changes every nanosecond (to make it look like it’s exploding) takes up a lot more “strength” than a door quick changing so it’s open. When too many layers of paint are applied to a wall, it falls and fails. When too many explosions are being created, the world falls and crashes.

So if you simplify the explosion animation, there would be less lag?

Yeah, but then more people will quit DW due to the bad explosion animations.

The real issue isn't the animated explosions or whatever. That creates frame lag, not network lag. The network lag comes from the fact you just activated something that is telling the server to activate 100 other somethings that create an explosion that has to check if anything is near the area of said explosion, if so apply damage to it and then continue on the chain another 99 times. And then you spam this about 10 times a second and suddenly the server has to check 1000 exploders instead of "just 100".
The animation is literally client side and should have little to nothing to do with any lag experienced by players in the world. After all, they don't have to render the explosion on their screen if they're on the opposite side of the world.

Exploders are easily crafted and are can be easily used.
Find a steam pipe and that’s it.
Imagine getting kicked out then you come back then kicked out then back same cycle
    That’s annoying as hell
Especially all you wanna do is be in the world whether is mine, pvp or chill
How about this, I will demonstrate how lag machines work and Exploders dirty doings

    “Exception Type: EXC_CRASH (SIGABRT)
    Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000
    Exception Note: EXC_CORPSE_NOTIFY

I don’t think it’s the game client, must be the server.

i dont think Exploders can make lag machines and lag out people from the game, The main reason for the delay or lag is mainly the network(wifi) speed

    @mikelaurence you can test 109lvl , 109lvl have 80+ farms

i build there I used more than 1000+ exploders but it works very well .

I dont think exloper can make people lag out or lag the world .

As far as I remember, I have one placed in Mewtopia, my world, marked by a plaque. However, due to my inability to play right now and that being a long time ago, I don’t remember if there is a chance that I may have removed it, but I believe not

ETA: mike, just connect as much explorers as you can to a switch or touchplate, you’re gonna experience the feeling of being a lag machine builder for yourself

The point of the lag machine is not to place many of them, it wouldn’t affect players that don’t render the explosions.
The way the machine works is:
You connect a touch plate to an exploder and let a terrapus (or idk if other creatures work) activate the touch plate that should activate the exploder, which should blow you up, after this happens, all other player‘s game crashes.

I found a connection of this to the bug:

    GameCommandEntityStatus
    -(id) validArrayDataDescriptor

I don’t know what the Arrays contain, but if you set it to (NULL) or [Nx][Nx][Sx][Dx] instead of [Nx][Nx][Sx]N[Dx] (it will have the same effect), no Entity’s along with players will show up, as well as the crash won’t occur.

I have some experience with lag from exploders due to my many mob farm worlds. I tried using android and pet terrapus to activate exploders to control mobs. This created no lag but when other exploders and players started interacting, the game would crash and I had to log back in. So I removed that setup and now have the mobs themselves hit touchplates to kill themselves. This made it possible to have more players without crashing. Now there’s a certain point when too many players, mobs, and exploders interacting causes the game to crash. The players realize why the intermittent crashes are occurring and continue to play anyway. If you are interested in seeing my set up, go to Deadly Spawners, I’ve rebuilt this mob farm many times and most players seem to love it.
